The Adventure Network works in a cooperative relationship
with Youth Leadership Institute. Please visit the site for more information: www.youthleadershipinstituteinc.com.
At the Adventure Network, we offer a wide
variety of youth activities including leadership development, team
building, diversity training, and adventure activities. Our programs
are tailored to the needs of your groups and we offer opportunities
for each participant to challenge their assumptions and examine themselves
to gain a better understanding of both themselves and the world around
them. Each of the programs we offer are detailed below.
All programs are customized to meet the goals
and objectives of the participants:
Youth Leadership
Students are challenged to examine their own styles and how they
impact others through a series of active, experienced-based, problem-solving
initiatives. They learn to balance their lives and integrate more
quickly into school, work, and their community. Common issues
that are highlighted are leadership models, teambuilding,
conflict
resolution, and the impact of diversity on teams.
Team Building
Schools, sports teams, and extracurricular activities often place
youth into groups and teams and expect them to interact in a
positive manor. With little experience or direction, youth teams
often flounder.
Participants in this workshop are given opportunities to effectively
work in teams in a fun and challenging environment. They explore
and experience the skills necessary to create and be part of
a high functioning team. Experiences are framed around teambuilding
models that allow participants to practice their own team skills
and flourish in a positive environment.
Diversity
Diversity programs are designed to give participants a broader
understanding of the world and their place in it. While exploring
similarities and differences between individuals, participants
begin to develop an understanding and greater acceptance of others,
the value of every person, and
what each person brings to a community.
These skills allow students to actively participate in resolving
conflict and creating a positive and diverse community.
Diversity/Connections
This program is centered on our “walk the walk” mentoring
model. It is designed to connect different groups; allowing each
to develop a better understanding of themselves and others. Young
and old, students and professionals, people of different cultural,
ethnic, racial, religious, socio-economic and educational backgrounds
are brought together to create a collaborative and positively powerful
community. Upon completion of this program, participants will gain
a new perspective about themselves, others, and their world in which
they live.
Adventure Activities
These activities allow students the opportunity to meet and get to
know a group of their peers in a comfortable way. Offered in a
safe, fun, and challenging environment, students can build confidence,
independence, and supportive relationships. Most activities are
one day in length but can be up to five days. Activities can include:
rock climbing, challenge courses, caving, whitewater rafting, backpacking,
skiing, orienteering, canoeing, or other outdoor activities. All
programs are provided with professional instruction and safety
is our first concern. No special skills or conditioning is required
for this program; all levels of ability can be accommodated.
